OK, so we’re still working out the kinks, but it’s getting closer to being all set up and functional. The kids have started posting and changing the look of their blogs. I’m interested in the way the ability to link back to their sources will change their research.

  • Will they feel more accountable?
  • Will they write less because they can go right back?
  • Will the citations be more accurate because they have a record of where they’ve been?

I have to say I was surprised by how many kids think that Global Warming is a hoax. That should make for an interesting debate when it comes time to make the film. I guess that will have to be something they will have to work out among themselves.

They did one journal today with Mr. Landow and answered questions about their process. They did a pretty nice job reflecting. I need to remind them next class that these posts are not like what they post on Facebook and that they are for a grade for class. They should take advantage of spell-check and the editing options on their blogs.

I sent out an e-mail to the faculty asking for blog readers and already got 10 responses–that’s amazing! I should be able to get other readers. It’s nice to have that many people supporting what the kids are doing in other classes.

I realized that not all of the blogs have an RSS feed available. I need all of my students to add one to their pages.
