How Do You Show Recent Comments that You’ve Made on Others’ Blogs?

Filed Under (Technical Questions) by Melissa Lynn Pomerantz on 12-05-2008 and tagged

To encourage students to converse via their blogs and to allow easy grading for me, I would like to have sidebar similar to “recent comments” and “recent posts” that tracks the comments the students make on others’ blogs. I think this is possible, but I just don’t know how to do it.

If anyone has technical advice, I would appreciate it.

Well you could get them all to use cocomment as there is no age limit to have an account. Then get them all to use a common tag like we are doing in the comment challenge. Then take the RSS feed from the common tag and use on your blog. Wonder if cocomment could create a site widget like User comments widget but for tags? Looks like I need to ask :)

Thanks for the idea. I’m not sure whom I should contact at cocomment, but I will definitely investigate.

funny aside–when I first saw “cocomment” referenced in so many blogging blogs, I kept reading coco–like a coconut :-)

Hi Melissa – its okay I contacted cocomment directly after I left the comment and they are considering the issue. They suggest you are probably better using a private group with your students so that only comments from your students appear in the comment stream.

Thanks, Sue. If there was such a widget, wouldn’t it only have “my comments” posted on my blog? Maybe this will be my great invention. (After I grade the 75 essays that are sitting on my desk).
